PINEVIEW RESERVOIR — Police recovered a stolen vehicle from Pineview Reservoir Saturday morning.

Police received reports from a passer-by at 10:20 a.m. saying there was a partially submerged vehicle in the reservoir, according to Sgt. Lane Findlay of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle appeared to have gone off a 40-foot embankment just off of Highway 39 east of the stillway, Findlay said.

When police responded, they found a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero with the back sticking out of the water, but they did not find anyone inside the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, Findlay said the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Ogden earlier that morning.

“It appears that the suspect or suspects went up to Pineview and tried to dispose of the vehicle by dumping it into the reservoir,” Findlay said.

The investigation has since been turned over to the Ogden Police Department.
