WEST VALLEY CITY — A 19-year-old man was stabbed several times during an altercation with several other men early Saturday morning.

Police say the incident is gang-related.

It is unknown whether the man was walking down the street or just standing in front of his house, 3160 S. 4300 West, when a vehicle pulled up and several men got out and began beating him and stabbing him several times before they fled, said West Valley Police Lt. Dalan Taylor.

Taylor said someone saw the man lying in the street and called police. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to recover, according to Taylor.

The man was not cooperative in describing his alleged assailants, and police are asking for information from any witnesses to conclude their investigation.
