TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 28, 2014--CiRBA, a leading provider of Automated Capacity Control software, today announced a new capability that enables organizations to see the true amount of server and storage resources required vs. the amount that is currently allocated by application, department or operating division in virtualized and cloud infrastructures. This enables application owners and business leaders to more actively manage the efficiency of their IT investments by having the information required to work with IT teams in order to make better allocation and infrastructure decisions, reducing risk and eliminating over-provisioning.

Over-provisioning infrastructure resources and over-sizing VMs is a universal issue for enterprise IT today. IT teams and application owners alike simply don’t have the visibility required to make the best possible infrastructure decisions. As a result, over-provisioning is the most common tactic employed to reduce operational risk.

CiRBA’s Automated Capacity Control software is the only solution that enables organizations to actively balance capacity supply with application demand by providing complete visibility into server, storage and network capacity based on both existing and future workload requirements. CiRBA’s new application and business centric views complement the unmatched infrastructure oriented visibility it has provided to customers for years with its award winning Control Console. The ability to isolate resources and show information relating to only specific business divisions or applications is key to providing clarity to application owners and ensuring privacy in shared hosting environments.

“Providing application centric views of capacity requirements makes it far easier for IT teams and business stakeholders to understand and discuss the actual resource requirements and make reclamation decisions that previously would have been off the table,” said Andrew Hillier, co-founder and CTO of CiRBA. “In addition, executives can understand how efficient their department or operating division is from an IT resource perspective as a whole, which enables them to pinpoint and control areas of waste in their organizations.”

Only CiRBA accurately determines the true capacity requirements based on technical, operational and business policies as well as historical workload analysis. No other solution can model all the critical factors that impact resource requirements such as service levels, compliance rules, redundancy and the unique workload patterns of each application. Without the ability to account for these factors, and also model the pipeline of inbound application demands, organizations rely on estimates or best guesses to manage their hosting environments, resulting in over-provisioning and increased risk.

CiRBA’s new application and business centric views of virtual and cloud resources are available to customers today.
