(KSL News) -- The LaVerkin City Council wants to take the election of Senators out of the hands of the and put it into the hands of the state legislature.
At a metting tomorrow night, council members will discuss a resolution encouraging the federal government to overturn the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and change the way US Senators are elected.
LaVerkin officials are not the first in Utah to propose the idea. Earlier this year State Senator Howard Stephenson called the 17th Ammendement a "huge mistake" and called for similar action.
