(KSL News) -- Activists and Medicaid recipients spoke out today about a dwindling program that provides dental and optical care to low-income Utahns.
Both spoke at a hearing today before the Utah Department of Health, concerned that low income seniors and people with disabilities would no longer receive emergency eye and dental care.
During the last special session, the state legislature did not approve use of two million dollars which could be used to fund the program.
Medicaid recipients were angered by the move, saying the program provided health care to Utahns who needed it most.
Health officials say they will be able to provide dental and optical services for adult Medicaid clients, but only until the end of June.
