LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian is up and moving around at a Las Vegas hospital and could go home this weekend after suffering a heart attack and contracting pneumonia. Tarkanian's son-in-law, Zafi Diamant, says the 83-year-old Tarkanian was feeling better and has been walking around Valley Hospital.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are looking for suspects and a motive after a person was found shot to death in a desert area in south Las Vegas earlier this week. Authorities say gunshots were reported Monday evening not far from the Henderson Executive Airport. Detectives found the man's body about 100 feet off the road. His identity has not yet been released.

PHOENIX (AP) — A woman accused of throwing a shoe at Hillary Rodham Clinton will remain in federal custody until she can appear in court in Las Vegas. Alison Ernst made an initial appearance yesterday in federal court in her hometown of Phoenix after she was arrested Monday. She had been freed from custody in Nevada after being given a court summons.

YERINGTON, Nev. (AP) — Several hundred people paid their respects yesterday at a funeral mass for Joe Dini, the longtime Nevada Assembly speaker who died last week at age 85. Dini was remembered at the mass in Yerington as a quiet, humble man who became a "legislative giant" during three decades in the legislature.
