(AP) — A Nevada rancher says he's trying to determine whether federal agents damaged any of his cattle before they released hundreds of rounded-up bovines in a showdown with angry protesters over the weekend. The Bureau of Land Management says Cliven (KLEYE'-vihn) Bundy owes more than $1 million in grazing fees for trespassing on federal lands since the 1990s.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have filed federal charges against a Phoenix woman accused of throwing a shoe on stage while Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a speech in Las Vegas. Alison Ernst also faces a state charged of disorderly conduct. Clinton wasn't struck by the shoe. She continued her speech to a recycling industry conference at the Mandalay Bay resort.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the crash of a small, home-built helicopter that killed a pilot at Reno Stead Airport. Airport spokesman Brian Kulpin says two helicopters were flying together Sunday when a privately owned, single-seat aircraft known as a helicycle crashed just after noon. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — One of the largest steam locomotives ever built is coming back to life. The Union Pacific Railroad plans to restore an engine known as a Big Boy. It was a 6,300-horsepower monster designed to drag heavy freight trains over mountains. It will pass through Nevada later this month on its way from California to Wyoming for restoration.
