HERRIMAN — A middle school and high school in Herriman were on lockdown Monday morning after a domestic violence suspect ran from police.

Officials said Copper Mountain Middle School, 12106 S. Anthem Park Blvd., and Herriman High School, 11917 S. 6000 West, were locked down while officers investigated a domestic situation in the neighborhood.

Police were looking for a man who ran from them after a domestic disturbance in the nearby neighborhood.

The suspect was found in the Seminary building next to the middle school, police said. He broke into the building and was hiding there.

There were no students in the building because they were at an assembly in another location.

The suspect has been taken into custody and the lockdown has been lifted.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
