OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A survey has been taken on a gondola proposal, but the sponsoring business and community leaders have no immediate plans to release the results or disclose how it was worded.
The proposal includes the sale of Mount Ogden Golf Course to developer Chris Peterson.
Pinnacle Marketing Communications, which is handling some public relations related to Peterson's proposal, and Focus Communications carried out the phone survey last month.
The survey was commissioned by several local business leaders and residents to gauge public opinion regarding Peterson's proposal, said Larry Hansen, president of Pinnacle Marketing.
Hansen declined to identify those who commissioned the survey, but said some were members of Lift Ogden, an organization that supports Peterson's proposal.
Those who ordered the survey are "overly pleased" with the data and plan to use the information for internal purposes, Hansen said. He did not elaborate and said there are no immediate plans to make the questions or results public.
He said the survey used open-ended, objective questions to gauge public awareness and support for Peterson's proposal.
However, some surveyed residents have said the poll seemed unscientific and biased in favor of the project, the Standard-Examiner said.
Peterson wants to buy Mount Ogden Golf Course from the city, redesign it, buy about 150 adjoining acres from Weber State University and put upscale homes on some of the combined land.
The proposal also includes Peterson buying city-owned land that buffers the golf course.
The sale of the golf course would be used by the city to help fund a gondola connecting downtown to Weber State.
