PRICE, Utah (AP) -- After seven years, the president of the College of Eastern Utah is retiring.

Ryan L. Thomas says he's leaving for personal reasons. He says he'll probably move from Price to somewhere between Salt Lake City and Logan to be closer to family.

During Thomas's tenure, the school's budget climbed out of a $1.9 million deficit and into a $200,000 surplus.

He also steered the merger of the school with the Southeast Applied Technology College and the construction of several major buildings on campus.

The Board of Regents will announce an interim president by the end of the school year. Thomas will remain until after this year's commencement.
