SALT LAKE CITY — The FBI asked for help Wednesday to locate and identify a man who they suspect sexually exploited a child.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children first received video and images of an unidentified man engaging in sexually explicit activities with a child in November 2012, according to the FBI. Investigators are referring to the man as John Doe 28.

The images have been enhanced to try and determine who the man is, according to the FBI.

Investigators said John Doe 28 appears to be Caucasian man in his 30s or 40s with a receding hairline. In the images, he is shown wearing wire-framed glasses and a burgundy t-shirt with a shark logo on the left side.

The video appears to have been taken inside of a residence with blue sofa chair and picture hanging on the wall, according to the FBI.

Investigators have been unable to link this John Doe to a specific region or state in the U.S., so the FBI is launching a national campaign to locate him.

Anyone with information about the man's identity or location can contact the FBI online or by calling its toll-free tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

The investigation of John Doe 28 is part of the FBI’s Operation Rescue Me and Endangered Child Alert Program, which focuses on using in-depth image analysis to identify the children in child exploitation material and identify unknown individuals involved with child sex abuse and pornography charges.

Investigators have located 20 of 28 John/Jane Does since the inception of ECAP, according to the FBI.
