SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The maker of video conferencing technology for deaf people says somebody has been hacking into its systems.
Salt Lake City-based Sorenson Communications says about 30,000 of its customers nationwide have been sent false calls that led them to think their machines were malfunctioning. Company officials say they have been dealing with prank calls since October.
The company has filed a federal lawsuit and is asking a judge to grant it access to information from a computer server it says it has tracked the attacks to.
Sorenson's technology uses video cameras to allow deaf people to communicate by sign language over long distances.
