SALT LAKE CITY — Copper Hills defeated Hunter, 55-47, in the first round of the Class 5A Boys State basketball playoffs Tuesday at the Huntsman Center.

The game featured 38 combined fouls, 49 free throws and 72 missed shots.

Copper Hills shot just 32.6 percent from the field, but Hunter was even worse with a shooting percentage of 27.1 percent

Porter Hawkings had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Copper Hills in both categories and guard Preston Sanchez scored 13 and grabbed seven boards.

Utah Ute commit Noah Togiai led Hunter with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Copper Hills will meet Davis on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
