Details are surfacing about the weekend birth of Shiloh Nouvel, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Jolie, 30, had a scheduled cesarean section in Namibia's Cottage Private Hospital, according to a statement Tuesday from the couple and their Los Angeles obstetrician, Jason Rothbart, who was present for the delivery. The reason for a C-section: The baby was in a breech position.
"The baby was a healthy 7 pounds. Brad was with Angelina in the operating room the entire time and cut the umbilical cord," Rothbart said in the statement released to People magazine.
The "surgery and birth went flawlessly," he said.
Jolie and Pitt, 42, publicly offered their thanks to the hospital staff members "for all their kindness and commitment in assuring the successful birth of our daughter."
The couple have been staying in Namibia with their children, Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1.
