SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- "Super Dell" is making a run for public office.
Dell Schanze, the former owner of Totally Awesome Computers and star of the chain's frenzied TV ads, has applied to challenge Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon this fall.
Schanze filed as a Republican on Friday.
In addition to his former business, Schanze is well known for a few legal problems. He was acquitted in 2006 of threatening to use a dangerous weapon after some angry Draper residents confronted him for speeding through their neighborhood. But he was found guilty of lying to police.
He was also charged that year with creating a public nuisance for buzzing Interstate 15 in a paraglider.
