OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A man accused of leaving a litter of puppies in a trash bin missed a court date in the case, leading a judge to issue a warrant for Michael Ray Howard's arrest.
Howard, 35, was scheduled to appear in 2nd District Court on Monday. He is charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty in a Dec. 9 case in which 14 terrier-mix puppies were wrapped in a sheet and a plastic bag and left in a bin behind a Riverdale fabric store. All but one of the puppies died.
Howard was also scheduled for a preliminary hearing related to drug possession charges Monday.
Howard's attorney, Daniel Drage, says he has no idea where his client is.
Judge Roger Dutson issued a no-bail bench warrant.
