Photos Courtesy of Don Lambson (KSL News) -- Firefighters and neighbors scrambled to douse the flames of a two-alarm fire today in Sandy.
The fire was at 2800 E. Cobblemore Ln. in Sandy. Neighbors called 9-1-1 around noon today, reporting smoke and flames coming from the home.
When firefighters first arrived, they were concerned about the amount of smoke in the neighborhood and called for additional trucks and crews. Neighbors say there was so much smoke in the area, the sky looked dark.
Bill Christensen, Witness: "It looked like a great big storm coming in. And then my daughter said, 'I smell matches,' and I immediately realized that was a fire."
Bill Christensen says the fire was quickly moving to the house next door. A neighbor helped him fight the flames with a garden hose. He was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were able to save the neighboring home, but damage is extensive in the home where the fire started. The cause is unknown.
