(KSL News) -- A Utah Highway Patrol trooper ran a red light and caused a crash which injured a woman and her two children. He is being diciplined, but will not lose his job.
A Highway Patrol spokesman declined to say how the agency will punish Jeremy Floyd. So far, Floyd has pleaded "no contest" for failing to yield to a red light and was ordered to pay a $112 fine.
In March, as Floyd responded to a call of a reckless driver, he didn't stop at an intersection on State Road 36 near Tooele. His overhead lights were flashing but his siren was not on.
He crashed into 24-year-old Tina Murray. Her car rolled several times. She suffered a broken jaw and a separated shoulder. Her two young children had minor injuries.
Murray's attorney says a lawsuit is likely.
