OGDEN — A man was hit and killed by a car on Wall Avenue in Ogden Wednesday evening. Police said the man was not crossing at a designated crosswalk.

The incident occurred on Wall Avenue near 2700 South about a block south of a crosswalk leading to St. Anne's Center, a homeless shelter at 137 W. Binford Ave. Police said the man was trying to cross four lanes of traffic.

Ogden City Police Department Lt. Tim Scott said police were investigating the cause of the accident, but they do not believe speed was a factor in the accident, and the driver was not impaired.

"We had an individual crossing Wall Avenue. A vehicle was driven by a woman struck and killed the pedestrian," Scott said. "The pedestrian was not in the crosswalk at the time he was struck. We do know speed most likely wasn't a factor on the part of the driver."

Charges have not been filed. Scott said the investigation will be on-going and police have not released the name of the victim pending notification of family.
