SOUTH JORDAN — A 12-year-old boy saved his family from a fire at their home, according to South Jordan firefighters.
The boy was sleeping in the basement of the home near 9500 S. Angus Drive around 12:30 a.m.
He woke to the smell of smoke, ran upstairs and woke his mother. She then got everyone out of the house.
Firefighters contained the fire to the basement, but even then it did about $100,000 in damage.
Crews were working to determine the cause of the fire.
