MIAMI (AP) - Dwyane Wade was inactive for the Miami Heat against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night, the fourth game that the All-Star guard has missed this season because of soreness and a need for rest.
James Jones was in the starting lineup in Wade's place.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra says Wade was feeling some soreness following Sunday's win over Charlotte, and the team has been cautious with him as he continues to recover from offseason therapy to deal with knee tendinitis. That was one of several knee issues he dealt with throughout the final weeks of last season, when Miami won its second straight title.
"We have been working with him and decided that tonight would probably be good to rest," Spoelstra said.
Wade is averaging 18.5 points on 53 percent shooting this season for the two-time defending NBA champion Heat, who are off to the best start in franchise history.
