Alex Cabrero Reporting Pizza is probably the most popular school lunch. It certainly is for one Tooele High School student, not just because it's yummy, but because it helped introduce her to the person who saved her life.
Every single day, 16-year old Angelia Glover wakes up and goes to school. But unlike most teens at Tooele High, she needs help doing the basic things many of us don't even think about.
Beverly Campbell: "She's not able to do very much for herself."
Fortunately, there are people like Beverly Campbell to help her.
Beverly Campbell, Tooele HS Special Education: "When I have hard days, and I wonder why I'm doing what I'm doing, I just look at Angelia, and she makes me feel really good and she helps me realize why I chose special education as a career."
But last Wednesday, during lunch, something happened nobody was prepared for.
Beverly Campbell: "That's terrifying, because you just don't know exactly what to do."
Angelia was eating pizza when a chunk lodged in her throat, blocking off her oxygen.
Angelia Glover, Tooele Sophomore: "I was choking."
Jeremy Wright just happened to be in the area.
Jeremy Wright, Tooele Police Dept.: "You could see her lips were starting to turn blue and she was pointing to her face and mouth."
Wright is the school's police resource officer, and started doing the Heimlich maneuver on Angelia right away, eventually getting her to breath again.
Beverly Campbell: "He saved her life. He did save her life."
Jeremy Wright: "Everywhere I go, people say I'm the hero. And I don't know, it's just part of the job I think."
Part of the job or not, Angelia knows for a fact he's a hero. Officer Wright even brought Angelia a stuffed animal and blanket this week, just to make sure she's doing okay.
