UTAH COUNTY — A Utah County mother hopes that Tuesday she and her daughter will finally receive justice after being hit by a drunken driver.

Lindsay Dyches and her daughter, Presley, were involved in a head-on car accident on March 21 near Salem. They were severely injured and have struggled to recover physically and emotionally since the accident.

Aaron Moorman, the driver of the car that hit the Dyches family, was driving under the influence at the time of the accident. Moorman was arrested, but since the accident he has been cited twice for traffic violations and for driving with a suspended license.

Dyches said she is waiting for Moorman's preliminary hearing on Tuesday, and she can't believe that he is still driving.

"It makes me mad," Dyches said. "It makes me scared. I'm scared to get in the car."

Dyches said after the accident, she had to be carried around her house by her husband, and that she still has a hard time walking. She currently uses a cane.

"I've got permanent damage to my foot and my vision," Dyches said.

Dyches said Presley was critically injured in the accident and that she has made a remarkable recovery from her injuries.

"Physically she's better, but mentally, we're both dealing with some post-traumatic stress," Dyches said.

Prosecutors say they are aggressively going after Aaron Moorman to upgrade one of the most recent counts against him to a first-degree felony. Dyches said she is anxious to put the criminal case behind them.

"It's been postponed and it's been eight, almost nine months now," she said. "So hopefully closure can happen, and we can move on."

Dyches will be called as a witness in the preliminary trial Tuesday.
