(KSL News) There were some tense moments at the Salt Lake International Airport this afternoon. Police caught a man suspected of trying to steal from the airport today.

"The officer just noticed this vehicle that shouldn't have been here. As he approached the building, the door was ajar. That heightened suspicion, and as he went forward he saw the gentleman, and the gentleman ran from him," explained airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann.

The man ran across I-80 on the south end of the airport. Police eventually caught up with him and took him into custody for questioning.

No word on whether the man has been arrested or formally charged.
