GUNNISON, Sanpete County — A man died as a result of injuries from a head-on collision Thursday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Brady Simons, 19, was the second person to die as a result of the crash. Kay Marie Matthews, 42, died at the Gunnison Valley Hospital after being transported there following the Monday collision.

Matthews hit a dead deer on U.S. 89 while driving north, causing her to lose control of her 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. Hitting the deer caused her to cross over the center line and collide head-on with Simons in his Toyota pickup, according to UHP.

Simons was reported to be in extremely critical condition after the crash.

His father said the family decided to donate his organs after his death.
