TREMONTON (AP) — Police say a 26-year-old man wanted on drugs and weapons charges managed to evade police Monday morning after a high-speed chase from northern Utah to southern Idaho.

Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance says officers pulled Brodey Brown over around 4 a.m. for a traffic violation on Main Street in Tremonton, about 20 miles south of the Idaho border.

Nance says officers spoke to the man but he drove off, leading them on a chase north to Garland and Interstate 15 toward Idaho. Officers said the chase reached speeds over 100 miles per hour.

The Standard-Examiner reports officers abandoned the pursuit as they approached Idaho as that state did not have officers near the border to continue.

Nance says there's a $30,000 warrant out for Brown. He was driving a green Chevy Impala that police said may be stolen.
