(KSL News) Immigration: It's a hot-button issue for the presidential candidates and for the nearly 12 million people living in the U.S. illegally.
Today a group called "Border Angels" met with community leaders and students at the University of Utah.
The group is known for organizing marches and caravans throughout the country and encouraging humane immigration reform.
With the election year, they're also encouraging everyone to vote. Founder of Border Angels Enrique Morones says, "We want them to vote. We know that if you're a resident of the United States, you should become a citizen. If you're a citizen you should register to vote, and if you're registered to vote, vote."
The group isn't telling people who to vote for, but it stresses the importance of electing a president who will provide a pathway to citizenship for those already in the country.
