FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) -- A man convicted of killing his former wife in front of their two children has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
David Drommond Jr. shot 29-year-old Janeil Drommond outside his Bountiful townhouse in August 2005.
He also shot and wounded his ex-wife's father, before trying to turn the gun on himself. Neighbors wrested it away.
Drommond pleaded guilty to capital murder in December as part of a plea deal that took the death penalty off the table. Prosecutors said Drommond's mental health issues, including bipolar disorder, were a factor in the deal.
A 12-member jury deliberated for about 2 1/2 hours before arriving at the decision Thursday.
