BOSTON — Actor Mark Wahlberg is getting props for playing along with a Matt Damon fan who mistook the former for the latter.
Damon fan Angelique Dormevil and her mother recently approached Wahlberg, mistaking him for Damon, and asked for a picture with him. Rather than correct her, Wahlberg posed with her for the pic, which she sent to a third party, saying she had met Damon.
The response from the recipient was a screenshot from a Google image search of Damon, who clearly was not Wahlberg.
The photo and accompanying screenshots of the texts made it back to Wahlberg, who posted a picture from the fan to his Facebook page Tuesday with the caption, “close enough.”
"Sorry for the mistake," she wrote on Wahlberg's Facebook post. "My mom and I saw him and I yelled out Matt Damon. I knew all his movies but I confused the two awesome actors."
Fans are praising Wahlberg for being a nice guy about the situation.
“Class is class – very cool of you since you made her day twice,” wrote Herb Grice on the Facebook post.
“Cool is one thing, but a celeb with CLASS is refreshing! Thanks for demonstrating both at a time when so many young folks are struggling to find great role models,” wrote another commenter, Chip Frazier.
Damon and Wahlberg, both from the Boston area, starred side-by-side in the 2006 film, "The Departed," in which they both starred as police offers investigating the mafia.
