SALT LAKE CITY — A new map shows the most popular brand that originated in each of the 50 states, and Sinclair topped the list for Utah represented companies.
The map created by designtaxi.com has caught the attention of residents across the nation with some agreeing and disagreeing with the product brand chosen to represent their state's ingenuity.
The origin of some of the brands were common knowledge, like Apple in California and Walmart in Arkansas. However, some may not be aware that Bobcat originated in North Dakota, although it makes sense given the amounts of snow the state receives.
Sinclair was founded by Harry F. Sinclair in 1916 and has since grown to become one of the largest oil companies in the U.S. Sinclair sponsored a dinosaur exhibit at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, and the green dinosaur soon became the company trademark.
What do you think about the map? Do you agree that Sinclair is the most popular brand to come out of Utah or do you think it should have been something else? Let us know on the comment boards or email me.

Editor's Note: A spokesman for the Sinclair company clarified that Sinclair did not actually originate in Utah, but the company headquarters relocated to Utah in 1983.
