Communication... Or is it?
The biggest of all issues: what is the universal complaint of husband and wives, parent and teenager? Maybe think of a teen and his girlfriend. Maybe think of father son, or mother daughter. The fact that I can't talk to him or they just don't get me. Communication. That has such a big impact on our lives. It seems to be the number one thing people struggle with. How do you have those really difficult conversations? How do you talk to your child about the birds and the bees? What do you say to a neighbor that is mad or angry with you? How do you communicate your values without sounding self-righteous?
Research shows the number one reason couples go for counseling is their inability to communicate. They may bring a big, long list of what they can't communicate on - like money, sex and kids, and things like that. But communication seems to be the hidden problem. Communication can be the tie that binds.
