MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE — The mother of a 4-year-old girl found drunk and unresponsive in her home in April has been arrested.

Raquel Grilho Borce was arrested Thursday and booked into Weber County Jail for investigation of child abuse and a controlled substance violation, Weber County Sheriff's chief deputy Klint Anderson confirmed. Borce has since posted bail.

Borce turned herself in as part of a deal between her attorney and the county prosecutor, Anderson said. Borce is currently the only person being investigated in the incident and has not yet been charged.

A search of court records revealed Borce has no prior criminal history.

The little girl was located in an apartment at Townhouse Estates, 1045 S. 1200 West, on April 11. Paramedics had responded to reports that the girl was unresponsive.

When medics failed to rouse the child, she was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital, where it was determined she had enough alcohol in her system to cause her body stress, officers reported at the time. She was then taken to Primary Children's Medical Center.

The girl has recovered from alcohol poisoning and is being cared for by her father, Anderson said.

"It's just short of a miracle that she (recovered), considering the amount that was in her system," Anderson said.
