SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for the man they say joined two others in beating another man for information, then shot him as he fled.

Anthony Lamar Vick, 32, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with attempted aggravated murder, or a lesser alternative of felony discharge of a firearm with serious bodily injury, in case of a lack of evidence. Both charges are first-degree felonies.

Vick is accused of hiding out in the home of Britney Flint-Jones at 1246 E. Stratford Ave. with another, unidentified person Wednesday, waiting to beat a 40-year-old man and question him about an unknown incident, according to the charges.

When the man arrived, Flint-Jones locked the door, hit him in the legs with a baseball bat and punched him several times, but the man refused to talk, charges state. The man eventually leaped out a window, and Vick gave chase, firing several shots. The man was hit once in the back, charging documents state.

Police responded to calls of shots fired and found the man near 2635 S. Highland Drive. He was transported to University Hospital, where medical personnel determined the man's colon and left kidney had been damaged by the bullet.
