SALT LAKE CITY — A Massachusetts man who dared police to catch him was caught here in Utah.
Police in Massachusetts accused John Blomquist, 34, of two felony counts of rape of a child.
The U.S. Marshal's Office got a tip this week that he might be living in Moab. Acting U.S. Marshal for Utah, David Carnahan, said agents arrived in town within hours and first located his car.
"Our guys set up surveillance in several parts of town and eventually were able to identify and apprehend Mr. Blomquist. He had been posing under another name, Bradley Scott Allen," he said.
Blomquist was arrested Wednesday without incident. Carnahan didn't know exactly how long the suspect had been living in Moab. He was expected to be extradited to Massachusetts.
Since he had been a fugitive, Blomquist had sent investigators taunting postcards saying "catch me if you can."
According to MassLive.com, Blomquist was wanted in connection with allegedly drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl at a motel last year.
