Tom Callan reportingThe Salt Lake County Council today may simplify the rules for raising election cash.

Asking for a hand-out is easier once than three times. That might be the view of the Salt Lake County Council. It will entertain a possible ordinance change so it can collect the maximum $6,000 all at once, rather than taking the piecemeal, incremental approach.

Councilman Joe Hatch says he would prefer one big, thick check rather than splitting the contribution for the party convention, the primary and the general election.
