Cleon Wall, KSL Newsradio It hasn't been a happy new year for one company after it was burglarized twice this week.
Penske Logistics lost thousands of dollars in appliances on New Year's Eve after one of its tractor-trailers was stolen. New Year's Day wasn't any better after one of its trucks was found stalled on California Ave.
"The truck had a broken driver's-side window, apparently had been hot-wired to get started," explained Detective Jared Wihongi, spokesman for the Salt Lake City Police Department.
Wihongi says they don't know if anything was taken out of that truck. He adds it won't be easy for the crooks to unload the appliances. "Oftentimes, they have to find creative ways to unload those, so hopefully it will be picked up and reported at some point," he said.
Wihongi says they are still investigating to see if the burglaries are related.
