(KSL News) Nine current and former BYU students and 15 visiting gay-rights activists have been charged with misdemeanors for on-campus demonstrations.

Soulforce Equality Ride demonstrators stopped at BYU last month as part of a nationwide college campus tour protesting religiously based discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students.

The 29 people are charged with trespassing and are scheduled for an arraignment May 9th.

The activists were arrested at many of their stops. Most recently, 21 were disbanded yesterday at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
