SALT LAKE CITY -- Superstar Brad Pitt has decided it's time to throw in the towel on acting and focus in on his work behind the scenes.
Pitt, 47, recently said he plans on retiring from acting at age 50.
"When asked by the Australian version of ‘60 Minutes' how long he plans to keep acting, Pitt simply replied, ‘Three years,' wrote Collider.com's Matt Goldberg. " In three years, Pitt will turn 50 and apparently he has decided that's a good age to get out of the acting game. "
But, Pitt says when he retires he won't be totally out of the game, but just taking on a different role.
"I am really enjoying the producing side and development of stories and putting those pieces together," Entertainment Weekly's Aly Semigran reported Pitt as saying. "And getting stories to the plate that might have had a tougher time otherwise."

Pitt's given some great performances over his career and some not so great, but as of late he's turned out some real gems like "Moneyball" and the critically acclaimed "Tree of Life." I look forward to what Pitt could bring to the table as a producer and what projects he could give life, but I am a little skeptical as to how serious he is about retiring.
He may actually call it quits just like Sean Connery and Cary Grant, or he may join the ranks of retirees who had a change of heart, i.e.… Lance Armstrong, Jane Fonda, Jay Z, Michael Jordan and Barbara Streisand. Oh, and let's not forget Amanda Bynes, her giving up would have been a real tragedy.
NBC New York blogger Scott Ross is on the same page I am and isn't totally convinced Pitt is done with his on camera work.
"A gander at Pitt's IMDB page reminds us that he's got ‘Coogan's Trade' and ‘World War Z' out next year, and ‘Twelve Years a Slave' in 2014--it's tough to believe he'll stop there."
