(KSL News) The St. George area suburb of Ivins has passed a resolution opposing a proposed coal-fired power plant in Nevada.
Ivins joins Springdale and Rockville as the third Washington County city to oppose the $1.3 billion facility.
City council members, along with an alliance of health, faith, business and environmental groups, worry the plant will damage the environment and ruin air quality.
But the company hoping to build the plant says new technologies will trap the majority of pollutants.
It also says the new plant needed to meet the power demands of Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
