HERRIMAN — A Utah dad is getting attention after posting a parody video online that shows off his daddying skills.
The video — a parody of LMFAO's "I'm Sexy and I Know It" — had been played on YouTube more than 400,000 times as of Monday afternoon. Titled "I'm a Daddy and I Know It," it catalogues a day in the life of a dad, although in a different way than another recent daddy video gone viral.
Father of five Chad Morton said the video started off as a white elephant gift for the family Christmas party. Family members asked for copies of the video, so Morton and his wife put it on YouTube on Christmas Eve.
Morton said the video took 1520 hours to make, and his kids, a 7- and 5-year-old and 22-month-old triplets, "had a blast."
"Every time we'd get the camera out, they just had a blast," he said. "They were always wanting to shoot it. They got to know the song, and they just sing it over and over."
He said neither he nor his wife have video editing experience — they "just kind of put it together," although now that the video has gone viral, he said he kind of wishes they would have made it a bit more professional. "It turned out all right," he said.
Morton said one of the most rewarding things about the experience has been seeing the positive attention the video has received online.
"Everyone comes up with kind of their own story about it, but overall we've been impressed with how people have banded together saying we're a good, solid family and we love our kids," he said.
After the attenion this year's Christmas video has received, the family isn't sure how they'll one-up themselves in the future.
