KEARNS — Police are asking for help identifying a man who robbed a store in Kearns Saturday.

At approximately 9:57 a.m. Saturday, the Unified Police Department responded to the report of a robbery at a Check Into Cash store at 4085 W. 5415 S. in Kearns. A clerk working at the time said a man entered the store, showed a handgun and demanded money.

After taking money from the cash register, the man forced the clerk to the back of the store in search for a safe. The man told the clerk to wait in the bathroom while he opened the safe, but nothing was removed from the safe.

Once the man left, the clerk called the police. Officers searched the area, but were not able to locate the suspect.

The man is described as having dark skin and is about 5-foot-6-inches tall. He was wearing a heavy black winter coat, a black sweatshirt, dark colored pants and a black scarf, which was used to cover his face. Police say the man is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Unified Police Department at 801-743-5950.
