OGDEN — A man narrowly escaped a shed that caught fire early Sunday morning.
The man lived in the detached shed at 464 Kiesel Avenue and was awakened when the fire started around 2:00 a.m. He exited the building unharmed and evacuated his father and two dogs from the adjacent home.
Flames from the shed spread to the garage of the adjacent house. Fire crews responded, but were initially prevented direct access to the fire due to a power line. The situation was quickly controlled by utility company personnel, and the fire was maintained.
The shed was completely destroyed by the fire, and the garage of the home sustained minimal damage. The man and his father were both temporarily displaced and will stay with family members.
The damage of the two buildings is estimated at $18,000.
The cause of the fire is unknown and the fire is currently under investigation by the office of the Ogden Fire Marshal. No injuries were received in association with the fire.
