SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is no stranger to unusual names.

The Baby Center released its list of 2012's unusual names earlier this week and the picks are worthy of their own "Utah Names" video.

"Of all the factors that parents consider in picking a name for their child, one floats consistently to the top: Picking a unique name. ...Some parents did a bang-up job" reads the introduction to the Baby Center's list.

Before you head over and check out the full list, we've hand-picked a few of our favorites for you.

Girl names

Americus: Love America (or "Where the Heart Is" with Natalie Portman)? This name may be the most committed display of your affection. It will last longer than any flag, t-shirt or sticker bearing the stars and stripes.

#poll

Excel: You're organized. You have lots of stuff to keep track of. You probably color-code your closet. Only seven of every 1 million babies will share this name with your baby girl.

Samanda: You love the name Amanda, but you can shorten Samantha to Sam, which is an awesome girl's name. Samanda should not be seen as a compromise, but a win-win.

Starlit: She's practically a "My Little Pony" character already. What's her emblem?

Boy's names

Burger, Cajun, Mango: Someone was really hungry.

Casanova: That's a lot of pressure to put on a kid. Same goes for Jedi.

Vice: Nobody will ever have to ask you what your vice is. Your son's name answers so many questions. Maybe that's why this name's popularity has steadily been on the incline since at least 2004.

Goodluck: And good night.
