SANTIAGO, Chile — A YouTube video of David Archuleta singing at a Christmas pageant outside of the a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago Chile recently began circulating.
Archuleta is nearly nine months into a 2-year mission for the LDS church. When the pop singer entered the church's Missionary Training Center in Provo in March, he told fans he would be serving somewhere in South America. A family friend said he would be serving in Chile.
Archuleta announced Dec. 20, 2011, he would be serving a mission for the LDS church. Fans at the Salt Lake City concert where he made the announcement "went crazy," attendee Jana Johns said at the time.
"He couldn't talk for a minute," Johns said. "Then he thanked the crowd for their support. He got a standing ovation. Everyone was on their feet."
