(KSL News) -- The city treasurer in Santa Clara admitted she embezzled money, that's according to the city manager.
Auditors conducting a random review uncovered an accounting discrepancy. City manager Matthew Brower says Betty McEntire, the treasurer, took the blame then resigned.
Matthew Brower, City Manager: "Betty called me, said she took some money. I immediately had her come to the house to review circumstances and follow up."
Brower didn't say how much money was stolen, but the city says they've fixed the problem.
No public money will be lost and they've created new jobs to more closely monitor city funds.
McEntire had worked for Santa Clara for 10 years.
