Sam Penrod reporting Firefighters are trying to put out a fire that torched a Draper home tonight. They were able to save the home from burning to the ground, but the interior sustained substantial damage.
Unified Fire crews were called to the home in an upscale Draper neighborhood at about 8:45 tonight. It was a two-alarm fire, with flames shooting through the roof.
The fire started in the upstairs portion of the home. The leading theory on the cause is that a heater is to blame, but that is still under investigation.
One woman was home when the fire broke out. She was able to get the family's pets out safely, but she suffered some smoke inhalation and is now being checked out.
Damage to the home is estimated to be somewhere in the six figures.
