PLEASANT VIEW — A girl is in critical condition after a curtain rod pierced her neck.
According to police, an 11-year-old girl was playing outside in the yard of her family's home at a trailer park at 2491 Highway 89 with her dog when she fell onto a curtain rod, which pierced her neck and spinal cord.
She was able to make it inside the home, and from there she was transferred to the hospital by ground in critical condition.
On the way to the hospital, police report, the girl became unresponsive. Paramedics had to resuscitate the girl after her heart stopped.
The girl was immediately taken into surgery. No updates had been given on her condition as of Sunday night.
Police say nobody witnessed the accident. They have not released the name of the girl.
