SALT LAKE CITY — The Chrysler 200 that we bummed for a week is shiny all over, and is Chrysler's best-selling car. It set sales records every month this year and helped the corporation's September sales go up 12 percent from last year.

In times of high gas prices, it gets 19/29 mpg out of a 3.5 liter V-6, and can still get up and go.

The navigation with voice input is only OK, but we haven't yet found a voice system that is better than OK. The stereo has a built-in hard drive, or can take yours. The satellite radio stores your favorite songs and tells you when they come on another channel.

The interior is comfortable up front, with proper hand brake. It is also versatile in back.

No doubt Chrysler's warranty and cash-back or aggressive financing help boost sales. A list of features like remote start for a price like $27,785 can't hurt either.

But for us all the shiny stuff really made it fresh. After a long day at work, it greets you with shiny. All you see is shiny everywhere as you drive. And more importantly for Chrysler, when you test drive.

You may disagree with the power of shiny and new, or even laugh at this, but hey, that's what the Comments section is for.
