(KSL News) The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole announced the release date for a man convicted of killing a young boy while driving drunk.

The Deseret Morning News reports that Tory Jacques will be released from prison on Oct. 23, 2018, as long as he stays away from alcohol, addresses his substance abuse issues and gives financial restitution to his victim's family.

Jacques was sentenced to serve up to 25 years in prison for plowing into the Smith family in 2003, killing 6-year-old Darius.

Jacques will serve 15 years. Parole board members say they believe Jacques accepted responsibility and showed remorse, which cut 10 years from his sentence.
