Mary Richards, KSL NewsradioAirport screeners say travelers can do their part to make this busy holiday week go smoothly.
While talking with reporters in Terminal 2, TSA Federal Security Director Earl Morris was informed someone had just tried to get a gun through security behind us. It turned out to be a lighter, shaped like a gun, which is still prohibited.
Morris says don't pack large amounts of liquids, or wrapped gifts in your carry-on, and dress smartly. "Be ready to take off your shoes, any outer clothing, anything that would be required to take off. Prepare yourself before you get to the checkpoint," says Morris.
Other rules you should remember. Don't bring snow globes and certain pies, because they violate the liquids rule.
